1. Can citizens of Hungary travel to the USA with ESTA?

If you are a citizen of Hungary and you want to travel to the USA, you can enjoy Visa-free travel and instead obtain an ESTA.

When traveling with an ESTA, there are specific regulations you should keep in mind. First of all, your visit to the USA should be because of business, transit or travel.

What is more, your stay time in the USA shall not exceed 90 days!

This is highly important because in all other cases you will not be eligible for an ESTA and you will have to obtain a Visa.

However, above all of the regulations mentioned before, you have to be a citizen of one of the VWP countries. Because ESTA can only be used by travellers who are citizens of the VWP countries.

2. Is Hungary one of the VWP countries?

Yes, Hungary is included in the Visa Waiver Program, therefore all citizens of Hungary are eligible for ESTA.

Only citizens of the VWP countries are eligible for ESTA because of the strict regulations of this program.

The Visa Waiver Program provides for significantly more travel freedom for many US travellers, which is why it is important to use the benefits of ESTA before any changes to the program are being made.

3. When do I need a Visa?

You will need to obtain a Visa in all situations in which ESTA shall not be used.

If your travel plans do not include doing business, traveling the USA or using the USA for transit, you shall obtain a Visa.

Also, you won’t be eligible for ESTA if you plan on staying in the US for more than 90 days.

If you are arriving in the USA in a VWP non-signatory air carrier, you have to have a Visa and ESTA will not allow you to enter the country.

Most importantly, you have to be a citizen of one of the VWP countries in order to be eligible for ESTA.

4. What are the passport requirements for ESTA?

Your passport shall approve that you are a citizen of Hungary or any other of the more than 20 Visa Waiver Program countries.

This is by far the most important requirement for USA visitors who are traveling under the VWP.
